Aquanada is a handcrafted jewelry company founded by designer Kirsten Ott in 2006 and launched in 2007. The Aquanada jewelry collection complements and celebrates the multifaceted components of a woman—from feminine, delicate, graceful and playful to luxurious, sophisticated, powerful and dramatic. Aquanada incorporates charms, semiprecious gems, pearls, precious metals, Swarovski crystals, shells, wood, vintage confections, found objects and glass into fashionable designs embracing modern aesthetics with timeless motifs.
Aquanada has been featured by DailyCandy, Atlanta magazine, The Atlantan Brides magazine, Luckymagazine.com, Brides.com, Skirt! magazine, About.com, Social Diva, Shecky's, ThisNext.com, The Sunday Paper, Cobb Life magazine and the High Museum of Art as an Artisan in Residence. The complete collection of Aquanada is sold online. Kirsten often takes her show on the road for trunk shows, so be sure to sign up for the email newsletter to catch up with her around the country.
About the designer
Baubles, beads, jewels and vintage glass have always fascinated Kirsten. Jewelry design has been an artistic pursuit of hers since the early '90s. At first, she only designed jewelry for herself, but soon began taking private commissions. She has been honing her craft ever since.
Inspired by all things bedecked and bejeweled, from the runways of Paris to the avant-garde to the classic styles of the old world, Kirsten handcrafts her jewelry with a wide array of stones, gems, fine metals, shells and much TLC. She's a charm aficionada and frequently shops antique stores and markets for vintage confections to use in her jewelry.
An English major in college, a voracious reader and an inherent wordsmith, Kirsten has strong ties to the art and publishing worlds, having served as an editor at several publications, including art&antiques magazine. It was here that Kirsten fell head over heels in love with the art world, finding amusement in the likes of Joan Miró and Andy Warhol, tranquility in studying works by Egon Schiele and Edward Hopper, and inspiration in varied periods such as Art Nouveau, Art Deco and the Renaissance. She continues to write for art&antiques as well as other national art-, fashion- and travel-related magazines and media outlets in print and on the web.
